Sentence: I intervened between my cousin and her boyfriend, because she was so stupid for being with him in the first place.

Poised- adj. being in balance or equilibrium
Sentence: Models are poised whenever or wherever they are, because they got used to it.

Saluted-v. Military. to pay respect to or honor by some formal act, as by raising the right hand to the side of the headgear, presenting arms, firing cannon, dipping colors, etc
Sentence- I saluted the officer when he passed by as a sign to show respect.

Surge- n. the swelling and rolling sea
Sentence- The surge crashed against the rocky coast.

Snide- n. derogatory in a nasty, insinuating manner: snide remarks about his boss.
Sentence-My co-workers made snide comments about my boss, because she was so mean and strict.

Frolicking- v. to gambol merrily; to play in a frisky, light-spirited manner; romp
Sentence- The children were frolicking in the snow

Rancid- adj. having a rank, unpleasant, stale smell or taste, as through decomposition, esp. of fats or oils
Sentence- My cousin would always watch her weight, so her taste became so rancid everytime her tongue touches any kind of oil or fats.

Mid stride- v. walking and halfway stopping
Sentence- One thing I learned in dance class was to mid stride.

Pried- v. to inquire impertinently or unnecessarily into something
Sentence- I pried into my work so I can make sure everything was right.

Deserter- v. to leave (a person, place, etc.) without intending to return, esp. in violation of a duty, promise, or the like
Sentence- He deserted his wife, because she had attitude and he couldn't take it anymore.

Pleasantries- n. a humorous action
Sentence- The comedian made a pleasantries on the audience.

Retracted- v. To take back
Sentence- My friends boyfriend retracted everything he had said to her.
