• Why does he feel like a traitor? David feels like a traitor, because he had spilled the family's secret of how his mother treated him and all the torture that took place in the house.
  
• What did Ms. Gold try to explain to Dave about the judge’s decision? Ms. Gold tried to explain to Dave about the judge's decision, because no child should get treated like how he got treated like by his mother.
  
• Describe what he saw right when he entered court. Right when David entered the courtroom, he first saw his mother and his brothers.
  
• What would Ms Gold like David to do? Ms. Gold wanted David to tell the judge the truth to every question that is going to be asked him.
  
• Who did Dave write a letter to? David wrote a letter to his mother.
  
• What did that letter say? The letter quoted, " To mother, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for it to come to this. I didn't mean to tell the secret. I didn't mean to hurt the family. Can you forgive me? Your son David.
• What did Dave say to Ms. Gold when he tapped her hand? David apologized to Ms. Gold when he tapped her hand. David apologized for all the trouble he had caused her.
  
• Why do you think David’s mom didn’t say anything when the judge asked her if she had any statements? I think the reason why the mother didn't have any statements for the judge was because she was guilty of the case.
  
• Why does he have so much trouble deciding what to do, explain the 2 sides. David had troubles deciding what to decide, because he imagined himself going back to his mother or being free and away from her, living like a normal kid again.
  
• What did the judge ask David? The judge asked David if he would like to become a permanent ward of the court or return and reside with his mother at his former home.
  
• What did David blurt out to the judge? David blurted out to the judge that he finally wanted to become a permanent ward of the court.
  
• What significant thing made David realize he wants to be he courts’? David realized he wanted to become a permanent ward of the court, was because so he would be away from all the beatings.
  
• What did Dave’s mother say to him and what did she give him after thy left the court house? Mother told David to be a good bye and told him to have a good happy life, and then after that she gave him some new clothes.
  
• When David waived good bye who was the only person to return his gesture? When David waived goodbye the only person who returned his gesture was his mother.
  
• What do you think about mom’s reaction after the judges decision? After the judge's decision mother didn't show any reactions or emotions at all, but she started to cry later on in the chapter. In my own opinion I didn't think she meant to cry at all.
