Chapter 4 Questions

Chapter 4 The Fight for Food
1. In order for Dave to get food, he would often steal food from his classmate’s lunch boxes.
2. The punishments that Dave received after she found out that he was stealing food in school, was that his mother refuses to feed him even more, he was no longer part of the family, his mother called him as The Boy rather than calling him by his name, he wasn’t allowed to eat meals with the family, play with his brothers, or watch television.
3. His father helped him sneak out scraps of food, and he would get mother drunk thinking she would be in a good mood when she isn’t sober. Not only that, but he attempted to make deals and promise her the world, but none of that worked. All his efforts were useless. So Dave was left hopeless.
4. Mother's story and reason to the principle for David's abuse at home was that he had an over reactive imagination. She explained how Dave would often scratch and struck himself to make it look like she abused him for attention since he had a new baby brother.
5. In this chapter, mother wiped Russell's dirty diaper on his face while they were at a trip, and she forced him to eat the crap.
6. During their trip at the Russian River, Dave's mother forced him to eat his little brother’s crap from his dirty diaper.
7. I don’t think his punishment was reasonable, because he doesn’t deserve to eat crap. i don’t think he did anything bad while at the trip.
8. No one had anything to do with him at school. He had no friends, and they often made fun of him. Calling him names such as “Dave the Thief" or "Pelzer Smellzer."
9. Dave had another plan in mind. He planned to steal from food the grocery store that was nearby his school. His plan failed. Dave stole a box of graham crackers; he then hid it in a garbage can. Soon he then found out that the custodian had emptied it.
10. Mother refused to feed Dave, because she thinks he doesn’t deserve to eat.
11. Mother knew Dave was eating, because he got caught stealing at the grocery store, since the manager called his mother.
12. The father argued with the mother asking her what he has done and told her why cant she just let him eat.
13. Dave’s father doesn’t help him, because no matter what he says or do its not going to change anything.
14. David hates his father more than his mother, because his dad betrayed him instead of trying to help him.
15. Dave’s next plan to steal food was to steal frozen food from the cafeteria. His plan worked, but his mom still found out that he was still stealing, because she made him vomit the food out.
16. His mother end up letting him eat the food that he had just vomited.
