Chapter 1: The Rescue
1.) The setting of the story was at Daly City, California. Most of the setting took place at home and at school.
2.) Dave's mother was a very selfish, and an abusive mother. her characteristic wasn't good, according to what she does to Dave, she treats Dave like he wasn't human but a punching bag.
3.) Two examples of how her character is when she brutally beats Dave. The last example is when she doesn't include Dave to the family.
4.) In school he was treated like a loner, someone who gets humiliated, because of what he wears and his hygiene wasn't at all good. The only people who took care of him were some of his teachers and the nurse which always called him to the office for more recordings of his scars.
5.) Dave wears the same outfit every single day. His mother does it to humiliate him. His long sleeve shirt had many more holes than Swiss cheese. His pants weren't at all good, and his shoes had holes in them that he could wriggle his toes out of it. Since he got brutally abused which meant he had a lot of scars and bruises on his body.
6.) The police were finally involved after the principle could no longer take what the mother was doing to Dave.
Chapter 2: Good Times
1.) Dave compared his family to the Brady Bunch in the 1960s.
2.) Dad- a hard working person who was often at work.
Mother- a fun, loving person who spent most of her time cleaning or with her wonderful children.
Brothers- very fun
Dave- satisfied with his life
3.) The quote probably meant that she completed everything she touch meaning she completely cleaned everything. In other words she was a neat freak.
4.) During Christmas, the house was filled with many Christmas decoratings. Every room in the house at least had a seasonal touch. And each of them had dozens of gifts. Each and one of them opened at least one of them during Christmas Eve and opened the rest on Christmas Day.
5.) Everyday was just so fun and exiting for Dave which made his life much more satisfying. His everyday life was full of adventures.
6.) Dave mostly felt the safe and warmth every time his mother gave him a hug. Her warmth was safer than being at the Russian River.
